“That’s why Im wiser. That extra year of learning more nothing”, 2024

The series title is taken from a passage in the Philosophy of Andy Warhol in which Andy declares how he is positively smarter from learning nothing. For me in today’s culture this relates to the tsunami of information we accept each day on our smart phones and what most of it amounts to: nothing. Like others, I feel wiser at the time during scrolling but I am ultimately left with a hollowness and a little paranoia. This imagery in particular relates to the feelings of mundanity, worry and unease that I commonly experience when looking at social media and the greater internet.
