Adams Puryear is named from his ancestral Tennessee homeland, but grew up in Massachusetts and attended the Massachusetts College of Art. After graduation in 2004 he moved to New York and started what would eventually culminate in a residency at Greenwich House Pottery in the West Village of Manhattan. Following the residency, Adams moved to Indiana and after three successful years of MFA candidacy at Indiana University he is back in Brooklyn.
